ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"My work is the reflection of my inner worlds: a collection of visions, creatures, environments, portraits, memories… which I use to capture my fears, fantasies and dreams. Art gives me freedom to distort reality, tell stories and share my deepest feelings and thoughts with the rest of the world. From a very young age, I have always been fascinated by the surreal, the unusual, the supernatural and the power of imagination, which inspire me to create my own universe, where everything is possible."

"My inspiration comes from various sources: dreams, cinema, literature, fashion, travel and artists such as Dalí, Escher and Hieronymus Bosch. My work is diverse and distinctive: oddly elongated portraits, gravity-defying cities and surreal creatures full of mystery and magic. With my metaphorical and symbolic works, I aim to intrigue the viewers, challenging them to enter and engage with the mysteries, terrors and fantasies concealed within my art."

BIO

Alberto Pitalua is a Spanish artist, born in Estepona, in the province of Málaga. Art has always played an important role in his life. As a child, Alberto used to spend most of his time drawing and painting, looking at art books, reading and writing... However, after finishing school, he decided to devote his studies to his other passion: teaching foreign languages. He graduated with a degree in English Language and Literature in 2008 and has worked as a teacher all these years, without losing his passion for art. While working as a teacher, he attended art courses in Málaga and met other artists who helped and encouraged him to keep developing his artistic skills.

In 2014 Alberto moved to Shrewsbury (UK), where he started his adventure as a professional artist. Since then, he has had his first solo exhibition ‘Reinventing the Impossible’, has taken part in several group shows and art fairs in the UK, selling his work to both British and international clients, and has started an exciting new career as a Fine Art Tutor. Currently, he is working on new art for future exhibitions in the UK and abroad.
